Accessibility Statement
Dehaati Restaurant is committed to providing an accessible website experience for all visitors, including people with disabilities. We believe everyone deserves equal access to information about our food, location, hours, and waitlist.
Our Commitment Ongoing
We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with disabilities, including those who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, voice control software, or other assistive technologies.
Measures We Have Taken
- Added a "Skip to main content" link so keyboard users can bypass the navigation
- Used proper semantic HTML landmarks:
header, nav, main, footer - Ensured each page has one clear H1 heading and a logical heading order
- Added descriptive page titles and meta descriptions
- Provided visible focus indicators for all interactive elements (keyboard navigation)
- Made all navigation, forms, and buttons keyboard accessible
- Added meaningful alt text to informative images; decorative images use empty alt attributes
- Verified color contrast meets WCAG AA requirements (minimum 4.5:1 for normal text)
- Ensured text remains readable when zoomed to 200%
- Connected form error messages to input fields using
aria-describedby - Marked required form fields clearly with visible indicators and
aria-required - Made dynamic status updates (waitlist queue) announce to screen readers via
aria-live - Added a mobile navigation menu accessible by keyboard, touch, and screen reader
- Respected user preferences for reduced motion
- Ensured the Google Maps embed has a descriptive title
- Made the dish details modal keyboard and screen reader accessible with
role="dialog"
Known Limitations
We are continuously working to improve accessibility. Some areas that may still have limitations include:
- The auto-scrolling Specialities carousel — users with reduced-motion preferences will see it paused, but keyboard navigation within the carousel is limited
- Third-party embedded content (Google Maps) is subject to Google’s own accessibility practices
- Dish detail videos (if present) may not have captions yet — we are working on this
